What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit it. They are stored on your device — computer, phone, or tablet — and sent back to the website each time you return.

Websites use cookies for a variety of purposes: to remember that you have visited before, to keep track of your preferences, to understand how visitors use the site, and in some cases to show you relevant advertising on other platforms.

The Compass Hours website uses a small number of cookies. Most are standard tools used by educational and informational websites. The details of each type are set out below.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on the Compass Hours website are set by third-party services rather than by Compass Hours directly. These are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties, not by this Cookie Policy. We have no direct control over these cookies.

Google Analytics — Used when analytics cookies are enabled. Collects anonymised data about how visitors use the site. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
Meta (Facebook) Pixel — Used when marketing cookies are enabled. Tracks site visits for advertising measurement purposes. Governed by Meta's privacy policy.
Microsoft Bing Ads — Used when marketing cookies are enabled. Tracks conversions and visits originating from Bing advertising. Governed by Microsoft's privacy policy.
Google Maps — The embedded map on our homepage is served by Google Maps. Viewing the map may result in Google setting cookies. Governed by Google's privacy policy.

How Long Do Cookies Last?

Cookies fall into two categories based on how long they stay on your device:

Session Cookies

These are temporary. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser. They help the website function during a single visit — for example, maintaining navigation state.

Persistent Cookies

These remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Typical durations: consent cookies last up to 12 months; Google Analytics cookies last up to 2 years; advertising cookies vary by platform (typically 30–90 days).

  • Right to withdraw consent: You can change or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time using the controls on this page. Withdrawing consent for optional cookies will not affect your ability to browse the Compass Hours website.
